When I am my own paranoid reactionary self, I see on the near horizon a global war ignited by an Iranian nuclear attack on, say, Tel Aviv and spread to Europe and Asia, at the very least, by a combination of Western Ostrich behavior and Chinese-Islamist collusion. When I go what in polite conversation is known as "too far," I am generally reprimanded as being either a warmonger or a fantasist with a bigoted mean streak.
Well, what to do? I am convinced now that Iran will soon have the bomb, if they do not have one already. I am also convinced that they intend to use it, to bring on President Ahmadinejad believes is the proper precursor to the coming of the Mahdi, itself the harbinger of the apocalypse. Muslim eschatology has thus become institutionalized as so-called "moderate" regimes tsk-tsk while quietly pulling for the mad mullahs to bring about The End.
I'm hoping that I am wrong, that I am too much of a worrywart.
Read this. There is much there to contemplate and take seriously. We have the opportunity to preempt the coming conflagration, much as Europe had a similar opportunity with a resurgent Germany prior to The Second World War. Will we take it, or will the failure in Iraq tie our hands and ultimately lead to war as we have never experienced?
When I am my paranoid reactionary self, I think of Iran in all of their brashness floating 4-6 cargo ships with a nuke on each into NY, LA, Florida, San Francisco, Tel Aviv almost simultaneously.
We can not let people who are committed to global domination and have an apocalyptic view gain nuclear strike capability. I hope Israel does strike soon and I hope we help them with refueling and intel. AND I would be in favor of us doing it ourselves.
