Sorry.
Scooter Libby's information on Valerie Plame's employment was apparently incorrect. Plame never worked for WINPAC, as Miller reported Libby had told her, but for the covert directorate of operations (as opposed to the communturn).
Somebody, for some reason, thought it a good idea to ask Lance Cole what the deal is with this, and he says that inaccurate information leads to a cleaner trail than the truth. The thinking, I guess, is that if there was this misinformation that Plame wasn't covert, then Libby would be off the hook.
As to Plame's position at CIA, Miller wrote this:
My notes contain a phrase inside parentheses: 'Wife works at Winpac.' Mr. Fitzgerald asked what that meant," Miller wrote.
"I told the grand jury that I believed that this was the first time I had heard that Mr. Wilson's wife worked for Winpac," she wrote. "In fact, I told the grand jury that when Mr. Libby indicated that Ms. Plame worked for Winpac, I assumed that she worked as an analyst, not as an undercover operative."
I'm still inclined toward the more obvious conclusion. Miller is a hack that hasn't gotten anything right in years. Did the bad information come from Libby, somebody else in the White House, or is this just Miller making a hash of a story? It is unbelievable that The New York Times continues to provide her with employment.

What I found amusing in the article was that this was attributed to THREE anonymous sources - guess there is a little more source verification going on these days.
If this proves to be untrue, will they start going to FIVE anonymous sources?

Maybe. What's also amusing is that in all of the recent stories, we are getting quotes from sources while the writers of the articles go out of their way to express admiration at the lack of leaks coming out of the investigation.

Miller is again lying. "Aren't I so very clever? I'll say that Scooter told me that Valerie was just an analyst and that will get us both off the hook!!" Miller spread the word among her fellow journalists that Valerie Plame was a covert CIA Agent, they had to call the White House for confirmation and speak to either Rove or Libby, whom for all practical purposes put Judy out of the loop. She's the trouble-making source of lies. How can she stand herself? The only thing she's good at is lying.
