London terror suspect Isaac Hamdi or Hamdi Isaac or Osman Hussain or Hussain Osman has told Italian authorities that he and his co-bombers didn't mean to cause any harm in the July 21 failed bombing of the London transit system. Which explains why they were so successful.
"Hey, we were just messing with you guys," said Hamdi-Hussain-Isaac-Osman. "What's the matter with you? Can't take a joke? You infidels have no sense of humor."
Osman-Isaac-Hamdi-Hussain later made a statement to the effect that the whole project was in fact a new type of "deconstructionist installation art."
"You see," said Hussain-Isaac-Hamdi-Osman, "the idea was to give Tube riders the experience of being in the midst of a suicide bombing without actually having to go to the trouble of being killed. And the artists--I like to think of my work as art--get to come back for repeat performances. It's a win-win situation."
Osman-Hamdi-Hussain-Isaac's lawyer acknowledged that her client is seeking a supporting role in the new Geena Davis Presidential television series but has not yet heard from producers. Similarly, his application to Survivor was returned unopened.
However, given Mr. Hamdi-Hussain-Osman-Isaac's strong body of work and his recent articulations on the war in Iraq, aides to Hollywood legend and anti-war activist Jane Fonda have been "putting out feelers" for him to accompany Ms Fonda on her cross-country trip slated to begin in the first quarter of 2006.
While details of the offer have yet to be made public, indications are good that, barring some unforeseen explosions or particularly long prison time, come Spring Mr. Osman-Osman-Osman-Osman-Hussain-Hussain-etc. could making a big splash in the US.
