The Senate Foreign Relations Committee is supposed to vote on the Bolton nomination today. Let's see if the Republicans can get their stuff together and vote him out of committee. If you're still interested, here's a WaPo "analysis" (read one-sided whining) including vague quotes of even vaguer complaints.
What seems to have the Dems' panties in a flamenco is that Bolton had the temerity to demand better intelligence from analysts. Critics are accusing him of bullying analysts into forming reports to suit his own viewpoint, although nobody has come up with an concrete evidence.
The other complaint is that he didn't play well with the State Department. That single feature should qualify him for any government post he wants.
Shouldn't we expect better performance from our spies and diplomats? And shouldn't we want some hard-nosed bastard cracking the whip to get the performance? And don't we deserve a person who will take Kofi Annan by the neck and squeeze until he either reforms or slinks back under his rock?
