While event in the Middle East are front and center, it is still vitally important that we don't allow our attention to be pulled away from what is going on with the former Soviet satellite states. Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko is due to visit the US in April. Congress has yet to issue an invitation for him to speak to a joint session. Supposedly, no Senator or Congressman, save one, has shown any interest.
The United States has actually cut aid to Ukraine since the Orange Revolution and now it looks to snub a man who has endured poisoning to see his country free itself from corruption and dictatorship.
