Bilal L., a "radical Moroccan pizza deliverer" has been arrested in Amsterdam for allegedly planning attacks in the city's red-light district.
The National Detectives Unit was alerted to the supposed attack plan by three anonymous emails, the first of which was received on 14 September.
The emails warned that "terrorists in Amsterdam East" were plotting an attack on the Wallen area in Amsterdam, De Telegraaf reported. Muslim extremists, the paper said, were allegedly furious at the lack of morals in the prostitution zone. (Emphasis mine).
Okay, here's where I go all ugly American. If you have ever been to Amsterdam, or even heard of Amsterdam you know that the city has a legendary reputation as one of tolerance of, let's say, a seedier side of life. Personally, I love it. It is beautiful, scary (at times), culturally intriguing and welcoming.
(I'll hopefully get around to putting up an article I wrote on Amsterdam when we returned after our first visit. It involve Queen's day, giants, midgets and the prurient wonders of the red-light district).
The thing about this story that fires me up so much is that this jackass certainly knew what Amsterdam was like. Nobody was keeping him there. Much like the lovely young Muslim men who raped a woman in Norway a few years back and then pleaded that her short skirt made them do it, these sorts of religious nutjobs move from their dungheaps into the welcoming West and decide that they don't like the western way of living and instead of going back home, insist that the society that took them in must conform to their medieval stupidity.
What is it about these people that make them unable to let others live their own lives? And when will we finally acknowledge that this type of crime is not committed because the US troops are stationed in Riyadh or the Palestinians are oppressed or any other excuse we hear day after day? This is symptomatic of a virulent, cancerous philosophy and must be destroyed.
After Pym Fortune, Theo van Gogh and now this, it seems as if the Dutch are starting to wake up. Let's hope they haven't slept too long. The Dutch are friendly, lovely, intelligent people. It would be a shame if they end up losing their wonderful country.

L. was allegedly in contact with Syrian Redouan al-Issa, the fugitive leader of the terror network Hofstadgroep (Main City Group). The Syrian was an illegal immigrant in the Netherlands and gave Koran lessons in the home of Mohammed B., the suspected murderer of filmmaker Theo van Gogh. B. is also a member of the Main City Group.
The emails claimed the Syrian was involved in the plans to attack the Red Light District, while another target was the Dutch Parliament in The Hague. L. is alleged to have bought equipment needed to carry out the attack.
So I'm offended by a woman in a window. I think I'll bomb Parliament. Is that it? But don't you know that someone will tell me that I'm overreacting and excuse this.
